Case Study: Taking a Mission-Critical Election Platform to Zero Open Findings

Some systems cannot be allowed to fail. This case study shows how IntelliKor tested an election technology platform that its owner rated as highly business-critical, and took it from numerous high-severity findings to zero open findings. The client is kept anonymous.

The situation

A client relied on an election technology platform rated high business criticality, the kind of system where an outage or a breach is unacceptable. They needed a full vulnerability assessment and penetration test, and documented proof of it that they could show their own client.

What we did

  • Spent roughly two to three weeks of hands-on testing against the live platform, not a scan-and-leave checklist.

  • Combined a range of cybersecurity tools with manual testing.

  • Tested across multiple user profiles and roles to mirror real attacker paths.

  • Delivered a 65-page remediation plan.

What we found

We identified numerous high-severity vulnerabilities. We then walked the client through locking down every one of them.

The result

After remediation, the platform had zero open findings across every severity level.

  • Critical: 0 open

  • High: 0 open

  • Medium: 0 open

  • Low: 0 open

The client received a documented report proving that a full assessment and penetration test had been completed, which they could share with their own client.

What this means for your business

You may not run an election platform, but the same two questions apply to any company: do you know where an attacker could get in, and can you prove to your clients and your insurer that you have been tested? A documented assessment answers both.

Not sure where you stand? Start with a quick look at your biggest gaps.
